Two World Heritage listed natural wonders from one idyllic vantage point

The coastal town of Port Douglas boasts what is arguably an unbeatable ‘two for one’ offer for travellers. It is the only place in the world where two World Heritage listed sites are situated adjacent to each other.

Travellers can easily explore the natural wonders of both the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest during their visit to this area of Far North Queensland.

Just an hour’s drive north of the region’s gateway city of Cairns, the 95km Daintree region begins at Mossman Gorge, traverses the Daintree River, through Daintree National Park through to Cape Tribulation and along the Bloomfield Track northwards to Cooktown.

Home to the world’s oldest living rainforest, the nearly 900,000 hectares of the Daintree National Park feature a vast diversity of flora and fauna, some that are unique to the area. Visitors can also gain deeper cultural insight about the region from the Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people, the traditional owners of the land.

Tour options for exploring this tropical region, include https://www.tropicaltours.com.au/, http://backcountrybliss.com.au/ and http://www.kurandatours.com.au/

The iconic Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest reef system and one of the most diverse ecosystems on earth. Port Douglas is the closest and most convenient departure point with over a dozen tours departing each day to the outer reef areas of the vast 2,600km region.

You can choose to snorkel or dive right into this marine wonderland or pick a ‘stay-dry’ option including viewing the mesmerising colours and variety of coral, plant and marine life aboard a semi-submersible. Check out: https://www.quicksilver-cruises.com/index.php.

As each day of exploration comes to a close, return to the relaxing comfort of your room at Oaks Lagoons and soak in an array of facilities including six lagoon-style pools and a massage room. Check out the fantastic sale on right now with Oaks Lagoons rooms from $114 per night. Book before 22nd January to secure this fantastic price!  Click here to search your dates.
